We know that financial issues - such as having fair access to adequate and appropriate life assurance, pensions and medical insurance present very real challenges to people living with HIV.
The understanding of professionals in the financial services sector of what it means to live with HIV has generally not kept pace with the recent impacts of HIV treatment, for example significantly extended life expectancy.
We are calling for a review to be undertaken by the Association of British Insurers in collaboration with with HIV sector to ensure that the UK is at the forefront of best practice in provision of financial services to people living with HIV.
At NAT we are therefore planning to undertake work in the future to address these issues - both to explain to you the issues and also to make recommendations for change to the people making the decisions.
