Court of Appeal Judgment Leaves Refused Asylum Seekers without a Right to Free Healthcare

Today the Court of Appeal judgment overturned the decision of the High Court that refused asylum seekers should be able to access free NHS care whilst in the UK. In particular, the Court of Appeal ruled that refused asylum seekers were not ‘ordinarily resident’ for the purposes of the law. Read the full article

HPA release new HIV statistics

NAT welcomes decline in HIV diagnoses - but cautions against complacency

The Health Protection Agency announced today that there were an estimated 7,370 new HIV
diagnoses in 2008 – a decline from 7,660 diagnoses in 2007. Read the full article

NAT Saddened by the Death of Natasha Richardson

“We are saddened to hear of the tragic death of Natasha Richardson. 
 
Natasha Richardson was an NAT ambassador for over 10 years. Having been personally affected by HIV she worked hard to raise awareness of HIV in the UK and around the world. She was always supportive of our work and very passionate in her commitment to tackle HIV discrimination. She will be greatly missed.”
